Tracks
It began to rain on me a little bit, but just a little. I tucked my camera and microphones into my side slung purse until it stopped then continued on my way. I reached a little dirty alley volleyball court lined with houses and garbage cans. Here I inserted both sides of the mike into a metal coffee can that is used as an ashtray and recorded the game from inside.

Cornered

Standing on a street corner, there are many sounds that can be heard. These are mostly sounds that can be heard together or separately fairly frequently throughout this area of the city. There is one particular type of noise that is commonly heard echoing in the background. It is typically anyone's guess as to what the actual origin of the shot like sound is. Hopefully its only fireworks. Or a backfiring car...

Walking around a smaller square area afforded me the luxury of looking closely within one concentrated area and not only focusing on sounds that occur naturally, but sounds that could be made by the contact humans have on their surroundings. I followed no mapped out plan besides to stay within in the designated 8 blocks. From there on I felt free to follow my instincts and inclinations, to create my own path. I was equipped with a simple but sharp digital camera as well as mini disc recorder. Attached to the recorder was a homemade microphone, split left and right.
Mapped

I took a walk to explore an area that has always been close, but is an area that I have never really taken the time to really look at, or to listen to. It is a small section of a small neighborhood in the city of Milwaukee This is an outline of the 8 block square that I traversed, floated through, searching for noises and perhaps for a story.
